Location Background:
Dolaucothi is known for the Roman gold mines circa 80 C.E. However, there is evidence of pre-Roman mining by the indigenous peoples. It may have been the only gold mine in Britain in the Roman period.
Scouting Background:
In Dolaucothi, we were collecting information on Roman gold mines, history, and possible filming locations for Bloodthirsty & Dangerous -- specifically, as we had set the village of the Hemavores in Dolaucothi.
In the general area of Dolaucothi we found many other exciting locations. There is the picturesque Carreg Cennen Castle, the Dan-yr-Ogof Showcaves, as well as the exceptional natural beauty of the entire Brecon Beacons area.
